How CLIFT Sentry works
CLIFT Sentry is an intelligent additional safety device that can be easily retrofitted to your existing TOPPAS Autobelay. Using three sensors on the system, Sentry detects in real-time whether a climber has clipped in correctly and immediately reports anomalies via alarm – wirelessly and without complex wiring.
What CLIFT Sentry detects and reports
The system continuously monitors the lane and raises an alarm if a climber has not correctly clipped into the autobelay – the most common and dangerous user error. This way, as an operator, you always have an overview of all your lanes, without additional staff at the wall.
What CLIFT Sentry is not
To avoid false expectations: Sentry does not replace the autobelay device itself, but is an alarm and monitoring system – not a life-saving device. It also does not replace on-site instruction and supervision and does not detect incorrectly clipped carabiners (e.g., to a gear loop instead of the tie-in point). Currently, Sentry is designed for indoor use (an outdoor version is under development at CLIFT) and is compatible with single-lane autobelays.
Who is CLIFT Sentry suitable for?
CLIFT Sentry is particularly suitable for indoor climbing gyms that want to centrally monitor their TOPPAS autobelay walls and react immediately in case of an alarm – without permanently assigning additional staff to the wall. Already in use, for example, in Weyarn, Vienna, and Innsbruck.
